What makes a home-based business successful? One of the key components that will contribute to the success of a home-based business is respect for time and prudent time management skills. Time is a precious commodity that successful business owners treat with the up most respect. Time cannot be replaced, once it's gone that's it. Time management is essential to the budding home-business entrepreneur in order to make your new enterprise a success.

Success in any home-based business requires the owner of the business to be a master of time and resources. Can you master time? Do you have what it takes to successfully work for yourself? Or do you just hate your job, your supervisor or work in general? These are questions you have to ask yourself and then commit to making the necessary changes in time management especially if you need to continue working that "dreaded" job.

Where will you find the extra time to commit to learning the necessary skills to make your new home-business a success? I think the answer to that question in trying to "Find Time" is to look at what can be changed in our daily schedule. According to a recent UC Berkely Study the average American spends 101 minutes daily in their car so the obvious solution is to use that time as productive as possible by listening to auto tapes that will educate us in our newly chosen endeavors. How about recording or downloading to your MP3 player all the calls that you're up-line, team or new home-business has available to you in their back office for training purposes?

How much time do you spend watching television? According to the same UC Berkeley study the average American spends 170 minutes daily watching television. While I agree there is some quality programs that can help us learn too many of us spend wasted time or going "brain-dead" to escape the routine of our daily lives. Do you remember the reason you wanted to start your home-based business was it more money, more freedom to do the things you want because you hate your job, your boss or the work you do? Then we need to set priorities when it comes to managing our time and free up the 43 days a year we sit in front of the television. Can you change your habits and spend less time watching TV and divert more time to improving yourself and learning the necessary skills you need to build your business?

Always keep in mind that there is no such thing in the home business or any other business for that matter as "get rich quick" or overnight success. If you ask any person who is an "overnight success" you will invariably find how much time they invested in their endeavor before becoming "the overnight success".

Home-based business success is achievable even if you are not a good manager of time, but are willing to learn. So much of the success you will have in the future will depend on how much more you are willing to learn. Learning about time management is as easy as an Internet search for "time management skills or time management strategy".

Nothing good comes easy and anything worth having is worth waiting for are still true adages. A successful home-based business is worth having at the right time. It is ill advised to quit your job and go into any business without first saving a lot of money, having an attractive back up plan and working hard investigating the best home-based business options or alternatives.

Working from home has many advantages and an equal amount of disadvantages for some people. Operating a happy home and a successful business under the same roof requires prioritizing. It's a little like triage for your life. What is important? Is there anything more important than the item that has been identified as important? Your most important activity for that day or that hour is the item that has the highest priority.

Successful home-based business owners must manage their time well and prioritize in order of importance.

Planning ahead contributes to the success of any business, home-based or otherwise. You can only fail if you fail to plan. Plan for every conceivable contingency, what if you don't have enough business to stay in business? How can I increase business? Where can I "find more time"? Avoid problems if possible and always conduct a feasibility study to determine the financial viability of your home-based business idea.

The road to success is littered with obstacles, challenges and surprises or Murphy's Law. Always plan for the worst contingency and be prepared for it to come in twos and threes. Sacrifice is the answer to how. How will I "find time" to go into my own business?
