Have you ever considered how to get rid of cellulite? Have you thought about self-tanners? Maybe lipo or lasers have crossed your mind? Some women may look on these techniques as expensive and somewhat extreme, considering the ease with which cellulite cream can be obtained at your basic drug store or indeed even a supermarket. C’mon, we’ve all seen them, the promise to get rid of the bulge or the gut or that cottage cheese effect on your thighs or hips. The cellulite creams melt away inches. They firm and contour the skin to mask the imperfections associated with cellulite. With the wide availability of cellulite creams, both high-end and drug store brands, including both gets and lotions, it is hard to determine which cellulite cream is best for you.

What Is Cellulite?

To be able to find an effective cellulite cream for yourself, we start at the source of the problem. Fat! There I said it. Actually I should include fluid and toxins in the mix. These three ingredients become trapped in collagen and elastin fibers located deeper in your skin level. All this gathering contributes towards a damaging of the underlying blood vessels. When that happens the skin’s outer layers are damaged. This creates little pockets to be filled by the first three ingredients. When all these events come together, then you have cellulite.

So Which Cellulite Cream is Right for Me?

The two most effective ingredients in any cellulite cream are caffeine and retinol, according to doctors. They work by firming the outer layer of the skin to relieve the telltale cellulite bumps. Other ingredients in cellulite cream are there to help improve the look of the skin by smoothing the surface. They can decrease the stretch marks and increase the skin softness. Ingredients such as Par Elastyl and collagen help to firm the skin while Ginkgo, green tea and horse chestnut help tone the skin.

There are a variety of textures for cellulite cream. They range from gel which absorbs very fast and reacts to tighten the skin, to lightweight lotions which aren’t greasy. Another choice is rich emollients which have to be rubbed into the skin very well to avoid staining your clothing. It is best to apply these only at night.

The root cause of cellulite occurs in the deepest layer of the skin. Places where no cellulite cream can reach. After all cellulite cream is only a temporary fix. It can only change the outer appearance of your cellulite. A more permanent fix for cellulite involves an improvement in your diet and exercise habits to increase your metabolism to burn most of the fat associated with cellulite.
