| The proper lawn care is essential if you want to end up with a fantastic looking lawn all year round. When it comes to lawn care, springtime is possibly the most important time to start really taking care of the lawn. This is because when it comes to summer, you want to be able to go out onto the lawn and you want it looking its absolute best. Also, a well maintained lawn can really help you to add value to your home as well as making it look more inviting. Understanding Proper Lawn Care If you want excellent results then you have to put the time and the effort into caring for your lawn. First the grass should never be longer than between 6-8 centimeters. This is because the grass needs that little bit of height to retain soil moisture and also to help it to grow a good, deep root system. You should also make sure that when you do actually cut your grass, that it is dry because that way it helps to save your lawnmower blades from becoming rusty. If you want to ensure that your lawn is cut properly, then ensuring that the lawnmower blades are sharp enough is essential. This is because the grass on the lawn has a much better chance of growing back properly when it has been given a clean cut. Also one thing you might not know is that if you leave the clippings of grass on the lawn until the next time that you cut it, it helps to give the lawn a good source of nitrogen. The only time you will really want to remove the clippings is if the lawn is quite wet. The lawn will not benefit from the sunlight if it is completely covered with grass clippings and that in turn will lead to the grass dying off. Another important lawn care tip to keep your lawn looking healthy and fresh is to water it whenever it is needed. Ideally you should use roughly 2.5cm of water evenly across the lawn each time that you do water it. However, if you use too much water then that can be damaging to the lawn and so you should be careful of how much water you are using. Really it is better to water the lawn in the morning as if you water too late at night, you could end up with diseases on the lawn. Overall you really do need to take good care of your lawn if you want it to look good all year round. Follow the above advice and you should end up with excellent results. |
