| Your child is growing up, and now is not really a child anymore, but actually a teenager. Puberty has resulted in your child being confrontational, and you just want to be able to keep everything calm. Thus, you are in need of some effective parenting techniques. The first thing that you need to realize is that you have already gotten through the toddler years, and thus are prepared to deal with this. After all, your teen is now potty trained! However, with the teen years come several steps that all parents need effective parenting skills for. If you are the parent of a teenage girl, one of the first things that you probably need to deal with is the issue of makeup. Once your child becomes thirteen or so, you start noticing blush, eyeliner, and lip gloss, not to mention the foundation, slowly caking over your daughter’s skin. Of course you are going to have to find some sort of effective parenting technique to deal with this. If you are the mother, chances are that this issue is going to be handed to you. Think about when you were that age – you probably wanted to wear makeup too! So, what you are going to need to do as an effective parenting method is to set some makeup rules. If your teen is suffering from acne, there is no harm in allow her to wear a little foundation. Also, you can allow your daughter to wear lip gloss too, because it also makes for a great form of chap stick! However, draw the line there, and tell your teen she can only wear more makeup when she is at least sixteen. If you are the parent of a teenage boy, one of the most common problems you are going to have to deal with is the issue of girls. Be sure that you have spoken with your son about the dangers of teen pregnancy. This situation is something that few parents can really control because the hormones take over, but effective parenting certainly is available in the form of making sure your son can always feel comfortable about confiding in you. Whether you have a teen boy or girl, you will need to deal with the issue of teen dating. You might silently weep at this milestone in your child’s life, but it is also an important form of socialization. If you have a younger teen, be sure that the teen is going on group dates rather than one on one dates, and if you have an older teen, make sure they are home by their curfew. It really all comes down to your ability to identify with where your teen is coming from. If you put yourself in their position, you will be able to figure out why they do what they do. Of course, you can also ask other loved ones for advice. You are sure to figure out the most effective parenting skills!
