| Breakfast was finished and it was time to go about the business I had traveled so far to accomplish. Pandayji had taken care of all the arrangements, so my appointments went smoothly — so smoothly in fact, that we had much of the day remaining for whatever we wanted.“Why don’t you get some rest? You must still be somewhat tired. We can meet later for dinner,” he said as his car pulled up to my hotel. That sounded fine to me, so I nodded in agreement. “Would about seven o’clock be fine? At the Samarkand?” he asked as I stepped out. “That would be great,”I replied, waving good-bye.“See you then,” he said and as an after-thought added, “It would really be nice to meet this Gideon and Marla one day.” I smiled, “One day, perhaps,” and walked into the hotel. A little rest would do me good. In a few minutes I was in my suite and about to close my eyes, when a knock sounded at the door. I should have placed the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the doorknob, I thought while getting up to see who was there. I never open a hotel door without checking to see who’s on the other side. “Who is it?” I asked. “Gideon and Marla,” came the reply. I threw open the door to welcome my two friends. “We won’t stay long,” said Gideon, “just wanted to remind you that we’ll be here for a few days, in case you didn’t hear me say it last night. With all the excitement of seeing Mardai again, you may have been confused and thought it was all just a dream.” “Come on in,” I insisted, “at least stay for a little while.” They entered and Gideon took the easy chair while Marla sat in a lotus-pose on the floor. “So, it wasn’t a dream after all,” I mused. “No, John,” said Marla,“it wasn’t a dream. You always ask about her so, it was time that Mardai, herself, told you how she was.” To read the rest of the story visit http://www.spiritual-simplicity.com |
