| I held the stone in my hand for a few moments, then said, “This stone, Matthias, it looks and feels like . . .” I didn’t finish the sentence. Gideon did that for me by asking, “. . . feels like the Jahar-Mora from your boyhood days?” “Yes,yes,” I stammered, “mine disappeared forever, shortly after it was used.” Matthias looked at me with a kind smile, “I know. When I gave it to you, it was only for a short . . .” “You gave it to me?” I exclaimed, “you were the old man I met in the village? How . . . what do you mean?” I was almost speechless. Matthias, got up and came over to me. He slapped me on the back and said, “Yes, John. I was that old man in your village. Don’t you know angels can be anything they want to be? You and your family were so kind to me and you didn’t even know that I was an angel. It’s a good policy to be kind to strangers because you never know exactly whom you’d meet. Actually, it doesn’t hurt to be kind to everybody.” “But after I had used the stone, it disappeared and I never found it again,” I complained. “Its work with you was done. Some other little boy or girl needed it. We have many of them. The power isn’t really in the stone, you know. But I must go now,” he said. “I have to help Christine before her stepfather returns and beats the hell out of her.” “I’ll see you soon, John,” said Gideon as he,too, got up. “I think I’ll visit the Big City with Matthias. Go to Headquarters and all that.” “Catch up with you soon,” said Matthias. “An angel’s work is never done.” They said good-bye and waved as they walked away. Then Matthias stopped and turned around. “I think I’ll give her the golden wings instead of the Jahar-Mora,” he said, “Stones are for little village boys. Jewelry for big city girls. No difference, however, they both work just as well once you believe.” To read the rest of the story visit http://www.spiritual-simplicity.com |
